Been lookin at gettin another pickup. I wanted a ford (is there really any other truck?). I also wanted a diesel, for the towing that i end up doing thanks to the family, and work etc... I almost bought a 99 dodge but im not happy with a 170000 mile truck being 17 grand. But around here thats the norm. I have nothing against dodge or chebby, Ive used em all for work at one time or the other, and pulled some stupid big loads in the oilfields with em. But today my wife came home with a silver 99 crewcab with 116k on it. She told me to go sign the papers on it and to quit whining about findin a pickup. Well im happy with it and at 14 grand i think (or hope its a good deal). Think its funny I have been looking for about six months now, and my wife saw that and looked for 2 hours, and found me a pickup. Ive been reading up and will be for some time learning the ins and outs of psd ownership.
Btw the wealth of knowledge thats availible on this site is absoloutly amazing and its a good thing that people can post questions and answers without getting slammed. Thank you all
No door sticker so i dunno if its a 99 or a 99.5 .Tried a vin search but no luck on manufactured date.
Texas Outlaw, Im in Wyoming Used to work the wamsutter field. Took a job here in Cheyenne Servicing trains for a railroad services contractor. Got tired of close calls out there.
Heres a few pics of my truck (i hope). woohooo they worked
You've got a door badge that says "Powerstroke DIESEL V8. It's a 99-1/2. Cloth seats, power windows says it's an XLT.
Same as the 2000's for all practical purposes.
If was an early 99, it would have the Powerstroke emblem out on the fender where the gassers have them.
It's going to take you some reading here to eventually feel like you're "on top" of really knowing something about it, but it'll be all worth it. Don't forget that spare Cam Position Sensor (CPS) to put in the glovebox, and the tools and knowledge to change it.
Oh, yea, I forgot... you're gonna' LOVE this truck!!!! Your wife will, too!
Do something special for her, 'cause it looks like she has a good eye for trucks.
And don't forget, go sign the paperwork to make it YOURS!!

You REALLY owe your wife one!!
Very nice truck. Great color. Looks nice and clean. The 3rd seat up front is very useful (jealous), I just have a console
A toast to you, your truck. "Drive fun, hard and safe....for many years to come."
Thanks Pop on the badge info, Papers are signed its mine. And my wife has already hinted that she wants to get rid of her tahoe, and get into a beamer (my aunt has one and let her drive it lol ) . After the first of the year, after i get a harley lol, god i love that woman.. Its under her orders too believe that.
But her b-day is next month i need to really do something nice for her.

That's kind of an urban legend Pop. My early 99 never had the fender badge and was born with the door badge.
