Had some issues with another ranger today, 2000 3.0 auto. It shut down in traffic and at one point was blowing out black smoke running rich (thought it was running on ethanol)
First my code reader wouldn't even light up, searched here and found out I needed to check fuse 17, which was the problem.
Was ready to hit the Pic n pull to see if I could find a switch since rumor is its $500. but then though I better follow Rockledges list and make sure I was getting a ground and power. Turns out the plug was full of water, blew it all out with the air hose and all is well. Thanks again Rockledge and FTE.
