obd II Question

I have a 1996 f150 and my check engine light came on and I have one of those pocket scanners frome discount auto parts and i tried to scann the code and it didnt work so i pluged it into another truck and it worked fine so i tested for power at the obd II port and there is no power has anyone ever had this problem

start by checking all your fuses

Check the fuse labeled "data link connector"

ya i checked all of the fuses to the PCM and the relay but they were all good were is the data link connector fuse in the panel or the powed distrbutation center

Go to autozone and tell them to use the big self powered scanner (OBD I and OBD II). They'll have to hook it up to your battery or cigarette terminal but it should work either way.
