Bracket for AOD cable

I've installed a 302 with a Holly 4 bbl in my 67 F100. It's got an AOD behind it. The engine was originally fuel injected, but when I took it out of the donor, I went with the carb. I will have to fabricate a bracket for the cable if I can't find one. I'm sure that AOD's have come from the factory with 302's with carb, just can't find anyone that knows what I'm talking about. I've ordered "mounting brackets" twice and neither was even close to what I need. I would appreciate any help or advise you might have.

my aod didn't have a cable, it had a linkage, and it had no bracket except the one on the side of the tranny and it connected to the carb with a ball socket.

I think the earlier AOD's had a solid rod linkage. I'm not sure when that changed. Mine is an '86, and it's the only AOD I have ever dealt with.
Thanks for the get-back

Go to a salvage yard and pick up a bracket for the TV cable. Modify it as needed. The AOD was common behind the 302 and the 300-6. The hardest part is to make sure the pivot radius and angular position of the pivot on the carb throttle arm is PRECISELY the same as on a 302 AOD. Otherwise it will drive the poor AOD nuts and possible cause failure. The old kickdown rod and vacuum modulator on the C6 was much simpler.

Thanks for that. I guess I know what I have to do now.
You are right, the old style kickdown rod was much simpler, but as Einstein said, the simpler things get the more complicated they become.
Thanks again

It may be worth it to grab the carb from a 302 AOD setup just to measure the pivot distance (radius) and to measure the right angle for the cable pivot point. Get those measurements and get things set up right. Otherwise any throttle movement will not pull out the proper amount of cable.
