[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-Apr-02 AT 09:06 AM (EST)]I have a 2002 F-250 XLT 4-Door V-10 (gas) with an automatic trans that I am planning on lifting 4" and putting on 33.5" tires.
The truck is a daily driver and will tow a 24' travel trailer. I was told about using the Diablo Chip for the speedodemeter, HP and torque but I'm not sure what I need exactly.
I understand the Diablo requires 91 octane but can be custom programmed for 89 or 87. Considering what I plan on doing and what I'll be using the truck for which would you recommend for my needs?
I have also been told that I don't need a chip at all.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-Apr-02 AT 11:13 AM (EST)]The gear ratio on the truck is 3.73 and it's a 2WD. It came with 31.6" tires and the trailer weighs 4,500 dry.
If you don't want the performance benefits of the chip and just want to recalibrate your speedo then the best thing to do is to have dealer recalicate it. A chip with an 87 octane program won't give added performance (but it will improve automatic transmission function).
I have decide to go with the 32.9" tires so not a huge jump from the 31.6" tires it came with. Considering that, do you think it would be worth all the money to get a chip (especially one programmed for 87 octane)?
In other words how much of a difference would the chip make with a 4" suspension lift and 32.9" tires and do you feel it's worth the money?
Then again how much would I really be losing performance wise if I only had the speedo recalibrated by the dealer?
Sorry, I am a rookie with little money to spare so I don't want to waste it on something that isn't really necessary or something that doesn't make that much of a difference.
