M/C bench bleeding?!

What is the preferred method for bench-bleeding a new M/C? Is it really necessary? I believe in the past I have just installed it, filled it up, and pumped/bled each wheel with decent results.

Should I be bench-bleeding it, and if so, how?

most new MC's come with fittings get some tubing and do it on the ground if need be. I strongle recomend bleeding it. Even if you have to mount it on the vehicle and bleed it there thats fin. If possible lift rear of vehicle to level out MC so no air is stuck in there.

Next crank uip the adjusters on all the wheels till it nearly stops the wheel from spinning, then you can either gravity bleed the system or normal pump bleed them.

Trust me on the cranking up the shoes, spent 4 day's on that one I was adjusting them the wrong way.

Bleeding a master cylinder on the truck rarely removes all of the air. Bench bleeding ensures the last pockets of air are removed.

Well, how do you DO that??

OK, I'm willing to bench bleed 'cause it makes sense and I know you guys know what you're talking about, but HOW do you do it? Do you clamp a mount ear in a vice and try to push the piston with a screwdriver?

Just be sure to use the least amount of strength pushing the piston in the bore. Otherwise you could be running around the shop trying to wipe up the fluid you just sprayed on your trucks paint job. It only takes 3-4 pounds of pressure to move it within the bore. I found that out when I did my first one using a cheapy bench bleeding kit I bought from Kragen. The plastic clip wont hold the tubes under the fluid if you pump like hell.
