Since I have finally settled on a paint scheme (two-tone with mineral grey/bright white) I'm now trying to figure out how to split the colors. My 66 CC didn't come with the side molding and I don't want to put any on. I'm not sure if I'm going to paint it with white above the belt line and grey below or do it with the grey roof/white/grey below belt line. I've looked through the galleries to get ideas with no luck. Anybody with two-tone paint schemes? How about photos of the door jamb area? I'm trying to get a picture in my mind of how to mask it off. "Should" be in paint before September if I can get all of the unwanted seams welded up, mirrors/emblems shaved, etc...
I did my truck with a tutone paint, green and gray. I also had not moudings, we panited the moudings on with a bright silver. There are pictures of it in my gallery.
Sweet truck! That's the style I'm leaning towards. How did you mask out the doors and jambs. Do you have any pictures of those areas? I'm probably going to just use a thin red pin-stripe to seperate the colors.
Yes it's tough deciding which two tone scheme to use. We are also in the same situation. Although our paint scheme will be Bionic Blue/ Sno-White combo we intend painting as follows.
Body and Doors the main Blue color. Roof and back, sides of cab down to the style line Sno-White. Masking off at the rain gutters above the windscreen area so that above is white and below is blue. Door jam masked off at the rear cab style line , below blue above white. At the windscreen post door jam area, color will change blue to white so that blue is evident arround the windscreen and down the front of each door post / jam area. Inside the cab all blue except for dash which will be blue on top and Sno-White on the front, ala most two tone schemes you see.
Bit complicated but should work out OK.
My main concern is how the hell am I going to paint the area under the grille on top of the firewall ??. It's enclosed except for one little inspection plate in the top-middle-front of the firewall (when bonnet.....umm hood is open). The area is currently sort of grey / white color and will look crap when everything arround it is blue.
Sounds like a cool paint scheme. I've been back and forth on colors but I have made a decision (finally) and will stick to it. My color scheme will look like Bertha's except where he has green, I will have dark grey and where he has grey, I will have white. I've thought about running the two-tone through the whole cab but I'm afraid that it would be a little too busy. That's why I am looking for any pictues of the door jamb/interior of an original style paint job.
I do not have pictures of the insides or door frames. My painter took pictures of my sons red and white CC and reproduced the OEM paint scheme. I will see if my son can get some digtal pictures of and post it.
