boss's truck has a hpop failure and it's at the dealership. would this thing faiuling cause the motor to lose oil since it is a oil pump. he drove around with a bad hpop for about a week cause his shut off symptom happened about a week before it finally gave up the ghost and went to the dealer. thing is a i changed the oil and i know i got the oil level right. he drove it a week after the oil change before this happened. the dealer said the truck was 8 quarts low when the truck was brought in. with me not seeing the truck i can't look under it to see if there's oil under it. so would this failure cause oil losss.
No it wouldn't cause any oil loss. Two gallons low is enough to cause total motor failure, but if it had used that much someone would have seen it coming from somewhere--oil leak, smoke, puddles, something. That's more than half the oil capacity of the motor. Something ain't right about this picture.
same thing i'm thinking I'mstarting to wonder what the heck is up. cause i was thinking the same thing 8 qts down and the motor would not start. come to find out they replaced the hpop and the injection pump they sa they both go out at the same time.

I know when my hpop went (it came apart) it did take out the injection pump also, but I did not lose any oil.
i'm still finding 8qts low hard to believe I'm startingto think they didn't want to do the work under warranty. rather just say the motor was low on oil and poof the customer pays for it.
