what happens when your umbrella breaks during hutch mod? (of course I noticed as I was all done and ready to reinstall) the tube it self seemed to crack by the way how much to replace?
that bypass shouldnt matter if it is broken. the inlet tube should be pushed in past that anyways. as long as its not going to fall off in the tank i would think that you would be fine like that.
well Ive checked everywhere and cant find it anywhere, the part number on the umbrella is e5tf9j306ba and nobody has it so I will check the stealership today, if I have to buy the whole deal its $600 I will be jumping off a roof today!
If you're jumping off the roof you better use a bigger umbrella...
Seriously though, check out this forums supporters (Y2K parts comes to mind) for a price on that part - the ones that frequent these forums are on top of their game, both in knowledge and customer service - locally it'll be more like... miss-miss-miss-nearhit-miss... you get the idea
Click here for Y2K Ford Parts - they're out of Washington state IIRC - your best bet may be to call them, or use the "Contact Us" link on their website

no luck searching so I sent them an e-mail, well see what happens. I suggest anyone doing this mod to spray a little wd-40 in the part before sliding the SS tube thruogh it so it wont bind and crack
Just curious if you reamed the pickup out real good with a 3/8" drill bit before inserting the ss tubing? As i recall when I did mine, the tube went in very easily.

well .....I thought I had it pretty clean, but it would not go easily. I checked the bit size to make sure I had the right one and it was. I did have to remove the tube because I forgot the clamp , all in all I cleaned it pretty well to where I could see down the tube and no residue what so ever . I hope I can get the part cheap or maybe I can come up with something else if all else fails. Anyone think I can rig something up?
How come no one listened to SBChero? I'm with him on this. Part of the procedure is to push the pick up foot on the steel tube past the bypass so you are only picking up fuel from the bottom of the foot. If you have done that there really should be no reason to worry. As long as the thing is not going to fall apart in the tank don't worry about it.
the problem is that when I disassembled it the tube was about 2/3 ripped around the base rendering it useless? right?. Well anyhow the dealer had it for $26 so I wont be swan diving off the roof....just yet. I thought about JB weld or something to repair it but I dont know how long it would hold up or even if its diesel rated. At $26 bucks I just got a new one so screw it. I do however have to wait til tomorrow for the part to come in YEAH
Anybody want to come to Cincinnati and do my Hutch Mod for me so I don't end up indebt? No pun intended! I haven't done mine yet cause well, I'm scared!
actually got the part at my local dealer, didnt want to wait, it was $26.42 I probably could have saved through y2k but I needed it yesterday. Hey 7.3L DID TD IT IS ACTUALLY pretty easy, I would probably get the parts locally and save but dang ITP puts a nice kit together. I would say go ahead and do it once your into it you will see how easy it is, especially the harpoon mod! Just dont beak anything LOL
