im either going to deglass my rig and do a cage that ties to the back of the rig as well as in the cab, dovetail front etc....basically a truggy

OR i could quit messing around and buy a prebuilt tube chassis and put my drivetrain in it ...i.e a buggy

I think truggys look cooler. You still get to keep at least a little bit of the stock look to the truck. If you stay with the truck chassis are you going to 4 link it?

Either that or inboarded 63 chevies in the rear....i have been tossing the ups and downs back and forth for awhile...but im getting tired of my super stiff rear

63's woudl be cheap and easy for sure

Thats a tough one. I think that the truggy would look cooler, but when you step up to the buggy, you get a lot more than just a role cage. I know you know, but you can make your COG a hell of a lot better than on a truggy, as well as decrease overall weight. Thats a really tough decision. I thought you were just talking about fabricating a tube frame, not buying an entire prebuilt chassis. That is what I wanted to do, but narrow the entire body by 12" and then dovetail the front. My back will be quasi-truggyish by the end of the summer.

If you do go ahead with the buggy, do something so that your axles aren't restricted by the frame/chassis, ie- tim cameron's.

I really like the older body styles of Fords, I was kinda pissed when Cutts went over to the Bko, but his bronc is still cool, nonetheless.

see now im at the point i think i need to decide....either one will be a lot of work...chassis will be more capable, loose some cool factor and be safer

but more work installing my motor, tranny, t-cases drivelines and sus[pension etc

It will definitely be low slung with my 44's

I like big block buggies

Yeah, BB buggies are badass.

So it really comes down to cool factor vs capability. You could make the Truggy very close to its capability though, it woul djust take a lot of work.

Are you going to stay with leaves if you went buggy, or switch to coilovers or 2.5's? And are you staying 1 ton? U1300's would be tight

Go with the truggy idea please!!! Sorry but I dont like buggies all that much. I like your rig the way it is, cage it and put some tubes out the back.

Im staying with my axles and tires, wheels motor etc etc...i woudl love rockwells but these havent broke yet and i have too much $$ in them

Im leaning towards the truggy idea because i can do things in small steps, like cage, then rear 4 link, then front, etc plus i will be able to keep my dash and such

Yeah going to the buggy would mean complete rewiring, side panel fabrication, ... that equals a huge down time. The rewards would be awesome...
But I think truggies are bad *** enough anyways. Besides, when you are out crawling, beating someone in a buggy with your truggy is fun.

So does that mean you are going to a new suspension if you are 4-linking right? What type?

dude, quit bitchin... you practically walked up Bents and Dents when the 2 buggies in front of us had to really open it up to get up. i'd definitely stay with your truck. you are so close to having exactly what you want and you dont even know it! your drivetrain is perfect, the look is kickass... you just need a cage and coilovers in the rear!

You make his rear susp sound really bad...

I flexed my truck out the other day with the Kubota, and the rear leaves are useless. Mine are 6" w/ the shackle flip 56.5" IIRC, with a near perfect angle... Chris what is your eye-to-eye length, and what springs are they? I may have to go with the 63" chebbies if I don't entirely swap suspensions next summer.

I blame my bed falling half off on the rear susp because it is so stiff it forces teh frame to flex...

MY rear springs are national spring 7" lift leaves without blocks for a 79 f-250....they are regular ol 3" wide 57's

They worked good when i had the stock bed and gas tank...now they are too stiff and i sit up about 2" too high in the rear...i would rather put some flatter, longer softer leaves in for less anti squat, better flex and a smoother ride...im thinking the 4 leaf 63 chevies inboarded

I aint bitchin, you know me cutts, i just cant leave nothin alone!!

I do need a freakin cage though
