Question 1998 2.5 Ranger O2 sensor locations, help needed please!

Hello,

Does anyone know for a fact where the O2 sensors for 1998 Ranger with a 2.5L engine are located? I have recently gotten a p0136 code (02 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank I Sensor 2)), so I tried to determined which sensor was causing the error, only to find that there are supposed to be two sensors upstream of the catalytic, and one after the catalytic. I only see one of the two that are supposed to be before the catalytic, does anyone know where the second one is located? Even better, can anyone tell me what causes the P0136 code on these trucks?<O></O>

<O

Many thanks,<O</O

I don't think it actually has two upstream O2 sensors since it only has one manifold. V6's and V8's have a sensor in each manifold. I could be wrong, however. It doesn't make sense to have 3 oxygen sensors on a 4-cylinder.

The downstream sensor is set off buy sensor failure or buy convertor failure or both. When mine went off I pulled it out and the sensor was actually broke off and there was a tiny whole in the convertor. I replaced it with a Bocsh senor from Napa which is allot thicker and looks like it will last allot longer than the factory ones. I left the convertor alone. Light is off. Good to go. On my cobra I bought mil illiminators for the downstream sensors which just sends the right signal to the computer so the light won't come on, both cats have nothing in them which would cause those sensors to activate all the time w/out the illiminators. Hope this helps
