1996 F150 4.9L EFI Auto, 170,000, ODBII ...still going strong!<O></O> ></O> I've had the truck for 4 year and it has run flawlessly. Recently once in a while it will run really rough for a couple minutes and then it is fine again. When it runs rough it is pumping out huge clouds of black smoke, which I know is fuel. It does not smoke at all except during those spaz attacks. I have never gotten a CEL code before, but yesterday when it was running fine it came on. I pulled the code, there is only one, P1151 Fuel-Air Metering. That is what it said on the code scanner.<O></O> ></O> I have done a couple hours of research on P1151 and now I am really lost. <O></O>
I found answers from the intake gaskets, to change all the sensors, to a loose gas cap... HELP!... thanks )<O></O>
That code just tells you that the computer saw the same thing you did...the motor went stupid rich for a moment. Start with the obvious things, fuel pressure, and gasket leaks. Go over the intake at the junctions and look for loose fasteners. Test the FPR for leaks and proper operation, may be an idea to get a fuel pressure gauge and monitor it for spikes.
