I plan to install a factory C-4 in our '72 Bronco soon, and have a question about transmission linkage. The replacement transmission is correct (Came from a '75 EB, has the right adapter.) Years ago, I put a Hurst shifter on the old top-loader three-speed, so I have the hole already in the floorboard, with a custom, all-metal cover that we built for it. Since the hole is there, what are y'all's suggestions for a floor shifter? Or, would I be better off to cover the hole and go back to a coumn shift for the auto? Thanks for y'all's ideas, recommendations, comments and help in advance...
I've always liked the factory auto column shifter. They are easy to shift if adjusted properly and work really well.
I have never cared for the typical aftermarket performance floor shifters (Hurst, B&M). They seem to jam easily and if you are in a hurry you can never get it into the right gear, which can be dangerous in some situations.
I do like the Art Carr gated shifters, but they do take some getting used to.
Lokar makes many different configurations for floor shifters. I've heard some good things about them, but I haven't driven any myself.
