3.0L Code P0300, 305, 316
2004 Ranger 3.0L 72,00 miles. Check Engine light comes on, with rough idle. Trouble codes said P0300, 305 and 316.
I replaced the plugs and wires-made no difference.
I replaced the IAC valve per the dealer-no difference.
I replaced the #5 fuel injector-no difference.
I replaced the Coil-still no difference.
Local Ford Dealer wanted to replace both cylinder heads, they said sunken exhaust seats. Compression test has all cylinders at 150 except #4 at 110 and #5 at 120. There is oil in the intake plenum and runners, but not in combustion chambers. No sign of head gasket breach when heads removed.
What do you guys think?
Thanks.
With all the misfiring going on, you might have also considered either a problem with the crank sensor (ignition timing) or the cam sensor (fuel injection timing).
I'm a little curious about "sunken exhaust seats" on an '04 w/75K miles. Did the dealership explain to you exactly what that means, and what caused it?
Seeing as the heads are off already, it might be a better option to go ahead and replace the heads, therefore causing Ford and the dealership to guarantee said parts and labor for a full year. You're already going to pay for the labor anyway. Then the ball would fully be in the dealerhips's court as to making sure there are no more problems with the engine.

Is this a "Flex-Fuel" 3.0L & if so have you been using E-85??????
On the oil in the intake side of things, how is the PCV valves condition????
