Cam Break In Article

Just out browsing, and came across this article with comments by who other than Survival Motorsports (and FTE's) own Barry R. in Hot Rod.
Not new info, but worth reading, IMO. http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/e...ech/index.html

It is not too old. It is very good info. You might check and see if that has been linked to in the Oil forum. Probably has been as there have been a number of discussions on that subject there. If not, a link there may be a good idea also.

Great article

Great article thank you for posting it. I have a question maybe someone has a answer for I am rebuilding my 351W and changing the cam to a comp cam #35-255-5 and was thinking I would need to change the valve springs for this change but I am haveing trouble finding a spring set for this cam I keep ending up at stock springs does anyone have an idea of where to find the springs for this cam or are the stock springs the correct springs for this cam?

Reed cams has a supply of good lifters, Johnson, Federal. I didn't use the lifters that came with my Lunati cam I didn't feel as though it was worth taking a chance considering how much damage they could do.

rkymtnman- I see the Comp spring # 942-16, or the 972-16. Different installed hgts, and a little different spring rates. They use those on a bunch of cams. In fact I've got 'em going in a 310" with the 268H hyd. flat cam. Different I.D. and O.D. also. Let me know if you need exact specs.
