08 ranger the same?

I haven't seen any spy photos or rumors about an 08 revamp. What year will it happen?

FWIW, I am looking to buy the current ranger (size and style) as a work vehicle because I need the reliability, low operating cost and low purchase price.

I am afraid the new ranger will be a midsize, more expensive, have new model teething issues and will be less economical.

When is the last year to buy the current style ranger?

I don't think they are going to change it until 2009 or 2010. Depends on who you talk to or not about what kind of answer you will get. The rumers are running wild.

I wish it would just stay the way it is for another 10-15 years.

IMO, the ranger needs a complete exterior overhaul.

i have a 1994 ranger and sure it has changed some but needs a new design.

for example, the new tacomas look awesome and i love them......but then i love all toyotas and hondas.

Yeah, the redesign is supost to be in 09, or 10. Truck Trend has hinted that we may see a crewcab as early as 08. That wouldn't be a stretch, as there would be no R&D cost as they build it in all other countries except here. It's also been rumored that the new ranger will be called the F-100. Alan seems big on name reconition, be brought the taurus back, so it may remain a ranger, I hope so.

what if... they build a mid-size and call it the F-100 and keep the compact and call it the Ranger .. hmm everyone would get what they want.

I just read some speculation on that as well in TT, they said if Ford felt the demand was high enough, it will happen. They are first going to see how well it does in the F-150. They know alot of folks would like a diesel, what they don't know is how many folks are willing to pony up the pocketbook for one.

Hello all;
I am willing to bet that many of you are the same as me. Ready, willing and able to buy a crew cab, diesel ranger. (Or at least some combo there of.)

We just got in our first 08, they look just like 07 except the foglight in the valance is round. Nothing cosmetically really changed, its mostly the way options and build levels are grouped.

I wouldn't trade my 4.0 for 6 diesels, I like gas engines, I like to mod them and run em hard when needed, diesels aren't quick enough for me and thier heavy and expensive to boot. My kids are grown, so I don't need a crewcab. I bought a truck to haul things, I need the bed space, I have an suv for hauling people and a focus ST for hauling *** ha ha.

it would be cool i guess on a retro redesign if they do make a mid size if it were to look like a 50s ford and call it the 100.. though i do like the compact size trucks too. i like the size of the 86.. is so skinny it can fit in the compact parking spaces at the local stall-mart

India is going to start importing a compact p/u, it comes even with a crewcab option, can be had in 2 or 4 wheel drive and the the standard engine is a 4 cylinder diesel. Truck Trend says it's a rugged little truck with good componetes and will be priced well. In the piture it even looks good. If it sells well, it might make ford rethink what thier doing

As I've said before, if people really want a "true" crew cab Ranger (i.e., fits 4 adults comfortably), then they better resign themselves to a 5' or smaller bed. Maybe to some people that's of no consequence, but to others it's a major limitation. Quite frankly, myself, I'd rather have the extra foot or so in bed space then in rear cab space.

Related questions: if a non-NA version of a Ranger crew cab is ever made available over here, will Ford still continue to offer a traditional "supercab" version (similar to the current model)? And what about a single cab version with a 7' bed for those people who simply want a small pickup truck for work and couldn't give a hoot about rear cab space?
