to check it you need to remove the spout and use a timing light.

it should be set at 10 degrees btdc.

i am not going to get into the advancing the base timing argument with anyone this week.

I believe the computer controls the timing advancement.
Can I ask why you would need to change your base timing?

you need to buy a manual.

or do a search on timing, this has been covered a thousand times.

Hang in there Dirigo and some one that knows more than I will come along and help you.

the spout location, timing and how to check it has been covered every week for years.

i am simply stating that if you need step-by-step instructions than you need a manual.

then i pointed him to a post on the same subject, on the same day, on the same page.

how much more helpful can i be?

To change the base timing, you will need to loosen the distributor hold-down clamp and rotate the distributor until the desired advance is achieved. The stock specification is 10° and I would start there. To check the timing accurately with a light, you'll need to disable the computer advance by pulling the SPOUT connector as mentioned previously. On your 92, it will be located near the driver side hood spring, close to the gray ignition module. I wouldn't mess with changing the timing unless you have access to a timing light, though.
