i have a 1999 or i like to call it a 1998.5 250 7.3 .. today i said to my self i would like to make my own air system for it .. well it was all going good till i tried to start.. it ran rough then stalled on me and now it wont start at all .. a friend stopped by and said that the i wasnt getting fuel to the injectors .. the fuel pump is working or running ... but i have no clue as where to start replaceing parts at .. please help
ok to answer both your questions ... i was makeing my own air system from CPVC tubeing ... the tubeing was cleared of all F.O.D. before i tried to start the truck .. i drove it that morning to the nearest hardware store about 30 + miles before trying to build my air system i only disassembled two wire systems the air temp relay from the original air box and the wire cluster that was bolted together
when i turned key on
1 i didnt hear the fuel pump
2 yes the wait start light was on
3 i did not hear clicking
when i cranked it
1 yes around 100+
2 around 10 volts
3 no it is a strong trun over
it ran strong this morning .. when i started it after the mods it ran rough i held the pedal down and she worked her way to 2k when i let up she stalled out and wouldnt run since ... the check engine light came on ..but figured it was the comp thinking on the air fuel mix
You said earlier that it was about 10 volts during cranking, did you check that with a multi meter or just gauge position.
4 things neede to start a powerstroke other than air.
1. > 100 rpm - Yes
2. Fuel - Pump coming on, need to verify pressure in the fuel bowl.
3. > 10.5 vdc - need to check batts during cranking
4. Injection Control Pressure > 500psi (HP oil System) - When doing the air system check to make sure none of the connectors on the motor got knocked loose.
just checked the fuel pump to fuel filter on the motor or water release valve .. i do belive im getting good fuel to that point... im not sure how to check the next persure setting to the injectors could i have lost a cylanoide ( cant spell and kids they dont teach them anything anymore )
It has to be something in the area of where you made the new intake, a loose connector or one that got knocked loose or a pinched wire. It would be way to coincidental for something to just happen to break.
How exactly did you position the intake and what all did you use to build and secure it.
