have a 96 f450 diesel rollback 5 speed has 109000 original miles. bought last october on way home flywheel pucked put new flywheel clutch and new trans in. and parked it for the winter. it ran and drove perfect. got it out last week. truck feels like its running out of fuel. low on power won't rev. changed fuel filter. nothing, pulled tank and was full of algae changed tank, nothing unplugged ebpv, changed cps, nothing scanned with computer comes up with nothing. any ideas
If you had algae in the tank, you also have algae in all of your fuel lines and filter housing. Go to your fuel supplier or some parts stores and get a biocide, drain your fuel filter housing, disconnect your fuel lines from and to the tanks and blow them out with air. Clean the FPR screen. Then add the biocide at the "SHOCK TREATMENT" amount to your tank. Mix some biocide and diesel and fill your fuel filter housing. Get it running, it may take a while with the fuel lines empty so keep a battery charger on your batteries. Then run that tank of fuel out and when you fill up add the maintinence dose of biocide.
If you EVER park you truck for long periods of time, add a biocide to your fuel tanks. I add biocide to every fourth tank, you never know what quality of fuel your getting.
FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) located on the left (drivers) side of the Fuel Filter Housing. It's held on with two 10 mm bolts, remove the bolts, wiggle it out. The part that goes into the Fuel Filter Housing has the screen in it. Oh yea, I forgot to mention that after you run that first tank of fuel through you will probably need to change your fuel filter. Good Luck, I know that algae can be a pain in the ##s, but with a little work it can be cleared up.
