Howdy
As you may know I'm restoring a 1949 Mercury M47.
My signal lights were rusted out but I can only see Ford F1 signal lights for sale aftermarket.
So I am asking even though the M47 lights were on the fenders compared to the F1's being on the grille, will a F1 signal light work in place of a M47?
I just seen some the other day at an auto wrecker. The have a nearly complete 48 Merc there. Try giving them a call to see if you can arranhe to have them remove and ship you the parts.
Hill Top Auto Wreckers 780-624-4611 in Peace River, Alberta as for Rob. The got Acres and Acres of old stuff out ther in reasonably good shape.
48-50 F-1 trucks in the US did not come stock with signal lights to my knowledge. They have parking lights (one filament bulbs) in the grill. A number of us doing 48-50's F-1's change out the socket and wiring to add signal lights in the parking light location (two filament bulbs). I was under the understanding that the Canadian front fenders are slightly different to accomodate the signal lights as well as the grill. Are you planning to change the front sheet metal from Mercury to Ford? If not I think that you should seek out the Mercury/Canadian signal light. lol
