1995 F350 Brake Lights / Turn Signals not working
I have a 1995 F350 4WD CC LB with the 460 gas motor. The brake lights and turn signals just quit.
- The 3rd brake light on the cab works perfect.
- Both front and rear turn signals not working.
- Hazard lights not working.
- Parking lights work fine.
I have checked / tried the following:
1. All fuses under the dash are good.
2. Checked tail light and turn signal fuses for voltage, both have 12V on them.
3. Turn Signal flasher replaced with new one.
4. All fuses under the hood are good.
5. Bulbs are good.
Not quite sure what to try next before tearing into the steering column turn signal switch. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Terry

sounds like it might be the multifunction swith. I picked up a used one at the local pick n pull for anout $30 It is easy enough to replace. I think 3 screws hold the bottom steering colum cover on, remove those then there are 2 torx head screws that hold the switch on. gently pull switch off and disconnect wire connector and reverse process to install. It is a 10 minute job

Thanks Matt,
I guess that would be the next thing to check. Is there anyway to diagnose the switch before I replace it (after pulling it out)?
If it is a simple mechanical switch, I can check contacts, etc. But if it has some electronics in there, not sure if it can easily be checked.
I'll go ahead and pull it out and see what it looks like.
Thanks again,
Terry

Not sure about testing it, it is a little more than a simple contact switch because it has the flashers, turn signals nad wipers in there. I guess if you could figure out which leads on the connector go for which function you could test it for continuity. On my switch it wouldn't stay up when you tried to use the right turn signal. I only picked one up at pick n pull because I was out there looking for other parts and I found one that was still rather tight.

I've just done a bit more research and see exactly what the multi function switch is now.
Everything else still works great with the switch.
One thing that I read, and am not sure on is that the hazard lights may not use the same circuit as the turn signals (at least they may not require the flasher to work).
Since my hazards also don't work, I am wondering if they go through the multifunction switch. I guess this is something I can look up on a wiring diagram as well.
I'm pretty good at debugging electrical circuits with the proper wiring diagrams, I've just never dug into this particular truck before.
If I can pick up a replacement switch for cheap, I may just go that route and hope for the best. Don't have a lot of time to mess with it, but also need to get it fixed quick since it's my daily driver.
Thanks,
Terry
Edit: I just saw that the hazard light button is part of the multifuction switch. I'll be pulling it off this evening.

I am pretty ssure that the Hazards use a seperate circuit, but at the same time the brake lights somehow go through that circuit. i don't know if they hace parallel circuits in the switch. I am pretty sure that with the hazards on and you hit the brake pedal the brake lights light up with the flashing. I have never seen a internal diagram of the wiring circuit. I am not sure where you are located, but all of the f-series and E-series from this era seem to use the same switch.

I ran out to my truck and saw my hazard button was up. (I thought this was the off position). I pressed it down, and turn signals / brake lights are now working.
I must have accidentally pressed the button while driving the other day when everything quit.
Only had the truck about a year, and I guess I never used the hazards before so I had no idea they were bad.
So you say the hazard flasher is on the backside of the turn signal flasher. I'll take a quick look. I felt back there really quick and didn't feel anything. Looks like it may have been removed. Well I now have a spare since I purchased a new one today. Maybe I can just plug it in and all will work normal again.
Thanks again for all the help from everyone. It really saved me a lot of time and money.

Me too!
I just plugged in the new flasher I bought today into the back side of the fuse panel (opposite the turn signal flasher), and now my hazards are working properly!
Looks like the previous owner removed it for some reason.
Nice to fix a problem I didn't even know existed as well as my brake / turn signal issue.
Thanks!

This Forum "ROCKS" - This was great advice.
- The 3rd brake light on the cab worked fine.
- Parking lights worked fine.
- But, both front and rear turn signals were not working.
- And Hazard lights were not working.
Pulled the Flasher on the back of the fuse panel - it was really hot - got a new electronic version from AutoZone for about $6 - popped it in and everything works like a champ now.
THANKS ! ! !
