how do i tell the differance

quickest way is the c-6 has an integral bellhousing, the c-4 has a separate one. whats the engine in front of it?

second the AOD. never seen a c4 in a 80's truck(stock), and c6 behind 302 is pretty rare.

A automatic 4wd truck with a 302 has the c6 as pretty much standard till the later years when the overdrive came out.
