Question Positraction

Hello Ladies and gents,
I am about to change gear ratio from 3.55 to 4.10. I have an open differential. I was wondering if it's possible to change from an open to positraction differential? I have a 1998 F150 4.6l V8 4x4.
Thanks.

"positraction" was a term G.M. used, Ford uses "Limited slip", and yes it is possible to install a limited slip carrier into your truck.
I am not sure of the break for the 8.8" rear axle, but you may end up changing carriers anyway. If you want a limited slip, now is the time to do it.
There are clutch type, similar to the factory type and gear type units are also available, so you have a couple of choices.

What's the pros and cons between clutch and gear limited-slip? And which brand I should buy?

Thanks.

That depends entirely on what you use the truck for. Are you running a lift and oversize tires or just want a little more traction in the winter?

There is no carrier break for the 8.8" or the 9.75" axle.

You know you will have to re-gear front and back, right?
