Posi rear end?

I have a 79 F-250 4x4 and i think my rear differential is a Dana60 but I am not positive. Any ideas if that is right? If it is a Dana 60, is it a posi-traction differential? If not what is the best posi differential to replace it with?

Thanks,
Dan

Just because you have a dana 60 doesn't mean you have a posi set up. Jack one side up of the rear axle and put the truck in nuetral and see if you can rotate the tire that is off the ground. If you can rotate it then you do not have a posi set up. You could still have a very worn posi so it would be wise to check the door tag and look up the axle code.

Also you can jack both wheels of the ground.
Tires go opposite directions..open diff.
Same direction.....limited slip.
