chip or tuner

hay guys,
i just bought a 2000 s.d. cc drw with a 6 speed trany.
i drove a 93 chevy 3500 with 6.5 diesel for years with a manual injection pump.about all you could do proformance wise was turn up i.p. bigger injectors, and bigger exhaust. don't know much about the 7.3 but i always wanted one. when i bought the truck it was one owner i called the old owner to find out if it had any mods. the truck has 75k the husband was not home the wife said they had only put 4" exhaust, 4-10 limited slip, luk clutch, and chip. then before we got off the phone she said they put the controller on her new truck. my question is does this truck use a chip or tuner ? also if it uses a tuner would it help much to install one on a truck with a manual trany. because from idle off to about half throttle it feels like stepping on a over ripe plum.
thankful for any help.

Yes it really wakes up the beast. You can do a flash tuner or a flip chip. The chip is the way to go because there is a 5 min or so procedure to change programs with a tuner which is a pain. Do a search here on dp-tuner and I think it will help you make up your mind. I plan on selling my diablosport Predator for a dp chip.

BTW I have a 6 spd and it makes for a touchy throttle in higher settings with my tuner but I have not tried others programs. You get use to it and will love the power increase.

Yes "to stock" on chip and should be yes on tuner or they have a useless power adder (just a code scanner then). Flash tuner's can only tune one vehicle at a time.

Other than pulling the pcm you could drive another stock 7.3. Even a small tune would give you a significant feel in power. Pretty sure you don't have a chip in there. A chip worth having would have a **** to select between different tunes. I'm guessing you don't have one anywhere around the dashboard? If you just want an increase and leave it at that you could have dp-tuner reflash your pcm dirt cheap. Otherwise I would get there f5 chip with 4-6 programs on it.

Try this http://dp-tuner.com/73tuning.htm
If that link doesn't work copy and paste in address bar.

tuner questions

I have a 2002 f250 7.3 6spd 4x4, I have heard alot about the dp tuner being the best, one reason because it controls tranny's well. with my manual trans, is there a more cost effective route? anybody know anything about the chip from scorpion diesel?
