what makes you think you need a new carb. Can you rebuild it?? They are not that complicated of a carb to try and learn on. Just curious what is going on.
I looked your truck up at www.partsamerica.com, and it looks like your truck came with a carter yfa 1 bbl carb. They have them for around $265.00
Yikes!!! $265+ for a 1 bbl carb.....
Guess I'm just cheap hearted....
I would spend a weekend making the parts to rebuild one before I paid that for a 1bbl carb...but there again, that is me and not you.
Well for one, the electronics don't work. Two, I want to put a new one on there. And I did rebuild this one, but its pretty much to far gone...
It is just a feedback carburetor, friend. The only physical part to wear is the throttle plate where it passes through the core
/body of the carburetor. Everything else is included in the rebuild kit.
As far as the electronic components are concerned, each part is just a simple potentiometer with a fixed scale set of values. This is not rocket science. Each feedback device either works or not. Each device can be checked on a bench with a power source / battery and a VOM meter.
There is no guarantee that a brand new carburetor will work on a system with bad connectors, or broken frayed wires to the control module.
My point is a thorough troubleshoot procedure first to determine exactly what needs to be replaced and what needs to be repaired.
The garage it was at, troubleshooted it and that was their prognosise (sp?). We've replaced just about everything (wires included) but the carb itself.
What's it doing? I hate to admit it, but if it was mine I think I would ditch the electronics too(if you can get away with it at inspection time). But to get rid of the electronics requires quite a bit of work in itself, since it requires a new distributor and module be wired up, plus the proper non-electronic carb.
What are the symptoms, and does the sticker on the radiator say EECIV?
