What would stop me from buying a V10 in another state and bringing it home to NY ? Would I have to sell it to myself first so it's "used" ???
Hmph
Well nothing prevents you from buying it from another state and bringing it in. But you will not be able to register it. In CA you can register them as a used vehicle if the unit has 7,500 miles or more on it.
I talked to a Ford dealer here about an '07 V10, and he looked on the computer and said there is NONE on the entire east coast (dealerships). Whether that's true or not, It's still pretty rare to see one around here.
About the '08's....I dont see many of them, because I dont want to see them...if ya know what I mean! FUGLY!
I just checked my local Ford dealer's inventory online and I am shocked to find that they have two '08 F350 supercab v10's in stock. For anyone interested, they are both in the XL trim, have the 5spd auto trans, tow command, 4.10ls, tow pkg and off road pkg. Dealer is in central WY (about 3.5hrs North of Denver).

I tend to agree with you. I getting used to the exterior but still don't like the look of the interior. But have you looked at the new Chev? That's one ugly rig and I'm a GM man at heart.
When you drive an '08, you'll get over the looks real quick. A lot of non Ford guys actually like the way my truck looks, and it's growing on me. I really like the no nonsense front bumper. I wouldn't be surprised to see a headlight redesign in the near future though.
To me, the '05-'07 will be the peak of design for this series of trucks. I don't consider the '08s to be all new, just a major overhaul. Smart move by Ford I think.
I cant believe that the redesign has ruffled as many feathers as it has. It think the exterior (and especially interior) are leaps and bounds better! Its a sexy rig now.

I was driving behind an '08 yesterday (second I've ever seen in person).
My daughter (10 years old) says something to the effect "why did they put Superduty on the back like that?" (referencing the tailgate). She didn't like it.
And if you can get a 10-year-old girl these days to NOT want to flaunt what you have, doesn't that mean something?
I dont design 'em, I just drive 'em. They should have stamped F O R D in big letters on the tailgate, like the old days.
When the Super Duties came out in '98 (as a '99), it really took me some time getting used to the looks. Now I think they are the best looking trucks on the road. The current F150 being a close second. Oh, and an honorable mention to the '07 GMC for it's blatant rip of of the '05-'07 Super Duty front end.
You won't find any V-10 trucks on dealers lots in the "green" states. They can't be sold because of emmisons. You also can't order a 5.4 with a stick. Its all in the ford to dealer new vehicle buying guide. Its been this way sice the 07 model year. I think it really stinks!
Wow are you sure about that? I was just in my Ford dealer on saturday (Vermont -- maybe the second greenest state after CA). I asked about the posibility of getting a f-250 with manual transmission. They told me they could order me a truck with whatever options I wanted (V8/V10 manual tranny).
