Yeah here is my massive leak. No wonder it felt slow... This started when i did my up pipe donuts last, i installed them wrong apparently (tightned the collector before bolting the turbo on, and then had to pull turbo down on pedestal, which pinched the donut and made a leak at the collector-turbine connection).

Wow kris that is a bad leak. I am sure that was your problem for the lack of power. For some odd reason I am thinking that you will go with the turbonetics twin turbo setup in the future.

With that set up and that exhaust leak fixed your truck should be a rocket now.

Good go and nice work!

You got some purdy pipes there Kris.

How do you think the 1.00 housing would work, a nice compromise between EGT and lag or still too much lag?

Well, I would say you found your HP loss Kris. At least a big part of it as a minimum. Congrats, great pics. Makes me want to crank up the sink strainer another notch.

After reading this thread I'm thinking that doing the up pipes and keeping the 1.15 would have been the best option. 1400+ degrees and hitting the surge line with a brand new turbo.....these are the reasons we go to the big husings.

Cookie i haven't really had my new turbo past the 1100 mark, yet. The EGT's do come up quicker than the 1.15 housing, but the guage tends to move slower after that. As a side note, that was 1400* with the 1.15 housing and the exhaust leak.

Tonight on the way home i wrung it out and it only went to 25psi, backpressure around 50psi, however i can accept the extra 8psi of backpressure for the increase in spoolup and the increase in low-end boost.

If you're happy then I'm happy for you young brother. 2 to 1 is the right ratio for an .84 housing, so I'm guessing it's sealed up tight now.

That little turbo is gonna kill you when you get some big sticks put in it...but you've probably already got your eye on another one (or two)

Yes i have the first stepping stone that i need for the other one in the future. Would compounds on a stock injectored truck be worth it? Or save it for the engine build?

Honestly...I'd save it. It would be a lot of fun stuffing 50+ psi into a stock motor, but without the fuel all you'll be making is hot air.

Yeah i'm thinking about putting that towards some more oil volume. Or Wheels and tires. Hmm this transmission has worn out my tires much sooner than expected. Should I.... Concentrate on power with bald tires, look funny but go fast, or go with new wheels and tires, look cool and go slower, and no more traction issue events...? Hmm hard decision.

Hmmm....lots of torque, bald tires....rain....sounds like a good way to eat a ditch. I think I would concentrate on keeping it on the asphalt berfore I went to tearing off the asphalt.

Besides.....there's nothing wrong with looking cool.

Do we Know of anyone running the twin turbo setup? I would sure like to hear from them. Would two smaller ones be better than one large one?
