yep almost 26k on my motor and i just bought a coolant system from napa part #4019 cant wait to get it on best 45 bucks i could spend.
Obviously, you cut into the heater hose to gain access for the "inlet" side of the Napa filter kit, but where does the "return" side of the filter kit tie back into the cooling system?
I totally agree with you with regards to the by-pass coolant filter being superior to the alternative method I mentioned. I was amazed on what my coffee filters shown me so I could imagine what a full time by-pass would do so I am very familiar with your comments and posts of the results of coolant py-pass systems.
My dealer appeared less cooperative with aftermarket stuff during the warranty period so I hesitated and did the alternative in the meantime but now that I am almost out of warranty I will likely purchase a coolant py-pass particulalry as it is cheap and easy install.
Strange thing is that my ford dealer is a huge service outfit here and their diesel formans said they have not replaced a water pump yet on the 6L. Not sure if this is BS but in general our fleet of 6L PSD with over 300,000km does not seem to have problems from the crap these coolant systems have and these trucks are worked hard and still going strong. The 6L may have great water pumps.
The alternative I mentioned is simply an alternative less effective approach than a by-pass system but at least it is much better than doing nothing for those not willing or not mechanically inclinded to install a coolant by-pass.

I am not to suprised on that considering that the coolant is rated for 5 years and the 6.0 is comming up on that mark. I would think that you will start seeing waterpump failures on 2003s that owners neglect the coolant service on.

any place where pressure is low... I might just tee in with the heater core lines Inlet for the high pressure and outlet for the low pressure return...i am not 100% where i am gonna put it. Im going to look at the truck to see first where i can mount it then i will make my decision.
