My dad's thottle cable broke on his 66 the other day when he was pulling out into traffic luckly he was able to get out of the way before some one hit him. He's got some kind of arrangement on there that just doesn't look very nice I would like to put something better on there for him. The truck is totaly restored with the exception of the drive train he's running a 302 with a carb I know a lot of you guys run this combo and wanted to know what you are using.
You can use an aftermarket cable as well with minimal modifications to the pedal and carb. Sometimes they're less expensive and sitting on the shelf at most part stores. I am running a Lokar knock off that looks and works really well.
I just used a 66 model v-8 cable from the donor truck with a (76) 302 I installed acouple years ago. I also had to change my gas pedal from a 65 to a 66 model to allow it to clip in; you shoudn't have that problem with your dad's 66, Also I do have a loop in the cable behind the carb on my Slick. Check my gallery & on the right rear side of my air breather you'll see the loop of my cable.
