I have been scanning the posts here and have seen some poeple post that a high milage 302 V-8 will not benefit from a chip. I have a 91 Bronco with 140,000 miles on it. I just had the heads rebuilt 1,000 miles ago and one piston replaced. Does anyone know if this engine will not benefit from being chipped? I understand that it changes the shift points as well as the air/fuel mixture, so maybe it might be worth it just to get improved shifts, is this possible? Thanks for your responses.
Depending on what shape the engine is in. If it was pushed hard and not well maintained, then I don't know if the chip gains would be as noticeable. But on a well maintained engine, the chip would still be chip would still help. I have over 130,000 on my 302 in my X. Just finished putting on a supercharger and a couple of other goodies, and am having Ken burn me a chip again...
Which chip would you reccomend purchasing Ken, a Superchips or a Diablo?
I have a 91 Bronco with a 5.0, stock except for a K+N Filter and it sounds like the previous owner put an exhaust. I don't know what kind, but it's defintely louder than stock. The cat is still there, so maybe it's a cat back system, or even just a muffler.
EEC V or OBDII is from 1996 to present vehicles, so if ur vehicle falls within those years then u have OBD II. 1983-1995 is EEC IV or OBD I so if ur vehicle falls within those years you have EEC OBD I or EEC IV
