Update on the Explorer, it seems the salesman did not explain the problem clearly, or I didn't hear it clearly, but he informed me today in an email it was the front driver's side axle that broke not the rear. Maybe some idiot left it in 4x4 high on the pavement eh? In any case, he states he will repair that, and do the brakes too. So that is cool. I guess I should have them check the transfer case too. I want the 4x4 to be working when I buy it.

Another update, called the dealer today to find out if the Explorer would be ready to take home tomorrow, and he said it is still at the mechanics waiting for an axle to show up. He said he will stay in touch with me tomorrow to let me know if I can come down tomorrow night/Thursday morning. Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow, and I can get it Thursday. if not, I will have to wait an entire week until next Wednesday.

If you're down in Fullerton on Thurs. I'll be in Garden Grove picking up a new set of tires for my truck, not too far off (not sure if I'm getting them tomorrow or Thurs). If I am around that day, wouldn't mind meeting up with a fellow FTEr and grabbing a burger or something.

That would be cool. I used to live in Garbage Grove (as well as Anaheim, Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa, and I grew up in Whittier) we will have to meet if you are down then. I can PM you my cell phone number.

Got the number man. I'll keep you updated. If I don't get the tires today, I'll see you tomorrow.
Haha, I believe you used to live there, as my buddy living in Costa Mesa referred to it as 'Garbage Grove' too when I talked to him yesterday.

Hey Numberdummy, what is an Oasis report and where can I get one? I googled it and came up with nothing. The dealer will get me a Carfax report for it, but I don't know where to get the Oasis report. The report I have on it now is from AutoCheck. That is the one that tells me it originally came from Colorado.

Oasis comes from a Ford dealer. Every repair will be listed. In service date, where sold will also show up. All Fords sold new in CO will have a DSO of 76. All new Fords sold in CO would be ordered from the Denver District Sales Office = 76.

You might ask FTE Ford dealer sponsor DIRECTFORDPARTS (Gaudin Ford-Las Vegas) to run an oasis today. You'll need the VIN. DFP link is at the top of the page, click the refresh button till it come up if not visible.

Okay, another delay in the saga of the '91 Explorer. Just got off the phone with the dealer, and the Explorer will not be done until Friday or Monday. They are replacing both front axles, and the front differential, and possibly the brakes as well. So now, the earliest I can go down there is Wednesday the 20th.

Too bad, I'm cruising down there tomorrow morning for my wheels. That would've been cool, meet up with 2 FTErs in one day (I'm buying my tires from another member). Oh well, next time...

Sorry to hear about the Explorer. At least it means more parts you won't have to worry about in the long run...(trying to be positive, because I know at this point I'd be pretty damn mad in your shoes!)

Yeah, I am disappointed in not being able to get it this week, but I do like the idea of a new front driveline being in it.

Hey Numberdummy, just tried to PM you and it sent it back saying you either turned off PM's, or you are not allowed to receive PM's.

Well, the plans have been changed again... this time for good it seems. The dealer has informed me that the Explorer will cost $1,200 to fix and that would make it uneconimical to sell. So he is going to unload it at a dealer auction. So now I am in the process of cancelling the insurance I got for it, and the Greyhound tickets, and getting my deposit back. Wasn't meant to be I guess.

I turned off the P/M's...I thought you had my email address.

Sorry about the Explorer, but considering the amount of work needed to fix the front diffy, what else would have gone wrong? The mileage was also suspect.
