new seals.
How much does the average 302 rebuild cost for you guys. just because I have oil hitting my hot exhaust and I want to rebuild the engine. so new seals and rings are the call of the day. what would I be looking for average cost.

Everyone is right on this.
You can go to your local Napa, PepBoys, Autozone and pick up a set of valve cover gaskets for anywhere from 10 bucks to as much as 32 bucks.
Depending on what type you get or want.
I would replace the valve cover gaskets first and then see if you have any other leaks.
If you are having issues with smoking and burning, THEN you might go look at rings and seals.
If you are burning any oil, I would look at a redoing your heads and seeing if the valve stem seals and valve guides might be worn out.
Til then, Save your money if you don't need to go thru an fresh rebuild.

also i am losing coolant and i cannot figure out where it is going. no leaks in resevoir or rad. or on hoses or lines. maybe its the rad cap. but I cannot find it anywhere.

Get the good valve cover gaskets .
And yes the rad cap is ussually the problem . You will have to Burp system several time to get all air out. But this doesn't always work as I have no leaks and have put several caps on and still goes down little.
