Another header question....

So I started a thread about tweaking the 5.8l as I get the money saved.

First mod is headers and better exhaust.

Searching for long tubes and it's been diifuclt to find anything for a F350 4x4 on the internet catalogs.

One other thing, I thought I had asked about air injection, but doing a search turns up many subjects on removing it and that's about it.

On my 96', I have air injection right?

I was going to get headers with o2 sensor, what else would I need?

I believe my current exhaust leak to be in a injection tube, behind the passenger head.

Thinking of getting headers with needed outlets other than that.

Will this throw a code or cause power problems if I go with headers minus the air injection?

Thanks,
Blair

The thermactor air injection should only go into the exhaust at the back of the heads and at the cats(except on some HD trucks that had it plumbed into the top of the exhaust manifolds as well.) Are you still running cats? No reason not to, and if you want to keep this system you'll need to replace the tube connecting the heads at the back. So assuming you have the system that injects air at the back of the heads, the headers need only an EGR port on cyl #1 and an O2 in the collector.

Still have cats, the exhaust is unmolested so far.

I'll see what heads have what available.

Thanks Conanski.

The 351 also draws the EGR gases off the right side manifold. You'll need to do something there too. The Hedman shorty headers for these has the EGR connection.

Looking a this today to try and pinpoint that pesky exhuast leak, it's getting worse.

Looks like there is a tube running from the back of both right and left exhuast manifolds.

This sound right?
