Code P174 HELP!!!

First off... 99 f150 XL, 79k miles

Check enging light has been coming on. The first time they checked it, it came up with a code 174 and was told it was the o2 sensor. They reset it and since then have gotten their codes computerized. It came on again and it was the same thing. p174. "Fuel system for bank 2 too lean"

Question: Is this a sign of o2 sensor death. If so... Does this code tell me which sensor is dying? I would prefer to know before hand so I can attempt to clean it or replace it myself rather than pay someone 80 bucks for a diagnostic to find out which is dying.

Please help.

Or does anyone know of a web site that shows where all the o2 sensors are and instructions to remove and replace.

did you ever fix this problem with yours. mine is coming up with 171 and they told me the same thing. i haven't replaced the sensor yet ($60). just wondering before i go and waste some money.

Code P174 HELP!!!

Thanks for the reply. They reset the code and it stayed off for a while and then came back on. Then I disconnected the battery and reset it.

I was told to try a bottle of fuel injection cleaner... Did that...
Also changed my fuel filter.... And it has not come on in over 1000 miles.

My fuel filter was pretty gunky... Easy fix.. 12 bucks and 20 minutes later its done...
