Alright, I will join the old thread too, LOL! Serious question though, if you did the Mag-Hytec, why did you choose that over the FoMoCo finned aluminum cover? I ask because the Mag-Hytec is $251 on Amazon, and the Ford cover is $69 on eBay form a dealership. That's a big difference, and just wondering if/how it's justified. Aside from the cool look, of course. (Does look sexy, but I might go without a decent home cooked meal for a while if my wife finds out I just blew $180 that I didn't need to. Again.)

Thanks!
The typical Mag-Hytek favorite features tend to be, the great look of them, the oil level dipstick, the temp sensor port, and the extra capacity.
I use the finned Ford OEM cover on my EX which is our dedicated tow rig for our 11,000lb TT, so my rear diff sees plenty of stress and heat. I replaced the stock fill plug with a brass plug which I drilled and tapped for a temp sensor. The highest temp I've seen so far (20,000 towing miles with the temp sensor) has been 230-ish, the Mobil 1 75W-140 oil in it is rated up to 340 degrees or so. Based on my heavy towing usage and the temps I've seen I don't see where the benefit is to the added capacity of the M-H cover and I have a very inexpensive solution to the temp sensor mounting and using that same fill plug to check the level works fine for me. But the M-H covers do look pretty cool!
I am also using the reusable Lube Locker gaskets vs RTV on my diff covers.
