Build sheet or door code error?

Build sheet or door code error?
Ordered a copy of my original build sheet from Ford. Finally came in yesterday, and had one interesting point of info. One of the options it clearly listed was a 4 speed automatic transmission.
Now...my trans code is listed as "M", which on the Ranger comes back to the M5OD manual 5 speed tranny. That has me wondering as to which one would be wrong, or which I could trust more?
So what's more likely to have been correct, the builds sheet indicates the wrong transmission, or someone entered the incorrect code on the truck's door sticker and at some point a tranny swap was done?
