I was hoping someone could help me brainstorm ways to fix my window regulator. This is actually in a '77 LTD, however, I know the 73-79 trucks use the same style of window regulator, just sized differently. It has broken, and left the window down. The part that gave out is the small sliding piece where the regulator arm connects to the shaft that is fixed to the glass. It is the main pivot point of the regulator.
I happen to have the same door off of a '77 T-bird. I was just going to pull the regulator from that door and put it on my LTD. Unfortunately the regulators are completely different sizes, and keyed to the glass differently, so I'm not going to entertain that option. I haven't had much luck finding LTD's in junkyards; I was lucky enough to scrap the T-bird.
In short, my question is - has anyone else been in this same spot, and instead of replacing it with a junkyard unit, figured out a way to fabricate the pivot? I'm going to see what I can come up with too, and hopefully somebody has a success story?
I tried here since the regulators are very closely related to this particular truck year, so hopefully someone with a similar experience would chime in. If this thread is on the wrong place feel free to move it; I won't double-post it.

This is the setup for manual or power windows.
The window regulator has a pivoting squarish plastic window roller that attaches to the arm. The roller has a threaded stud which fits thrugh a hole in the arm, and is held by a nut.
The roller fits into a metal channel that bolts to the glass.
The roller breaks, window falls into door.
Replace the roller...that's all that's wrong...Very common for it to break.
D6AZ-5323240-A .. Window Roller
Still available from Ford and prolly NAPA ~ FoMoCo list price $7.88 ~ Fits 1973/79 everything. The head of the roller is about 1" square with rounded off corners...
For future reference, this does not pertain to the roller. There's the LTD, with side by side dual headlights, and the LTD II with vertical headlights. Two different cars.

Just ordered one from NAPA. The picture in the parts catalog looked like what you described. I'm picking it up after work tomorrow; hopefully it works out. I'll post back with results.
I got the part from Napa and installed it after work today; it worked out perfectly! I can't believe the solution was this simple. The Napa part number is 665-1077, it was only about $4. I'm glad I can have some fresh air this summer. Numbers, thanks again for all the help! I owe you!
