I'm a newbie at truck repair but I'm gonna give this a shot. The top of my bed liner on the back of my truck is off about an inch and sticks up in the air. I've tried popping it back into place but have had no luck. It's not the bed liner itself but the upper part that fits over the topside of the bed. Is this making sense? I need instructions on removing this and adjusting it so it won't be off. I have a 98 F150XL. Thanks! -Jennifer-
Maybe there is something under the bedliner preventing it from seating properly. I don't know how the stuff gets under there but about once a year I would take my liner off(and I had a shell on top) and clean all the debris- mostly leaves, twigs and small rocks.
It sounds like you have an "under-the-rail" liner. If you need to take it off just grab the back of the liner(from the tailgate end) in the middle and lift. Most of it will pop-out from under the rail. The work on one side until it is completely out. The other side and back lip will just lift out. The liners don't weigh much (40-50lbs is my guess)but because of their shape they can be a bit unwieldy. Sometimes you need to muscle them around a little to get them to unseat.
It looks to me as if the bed liner and the liner that covers the rails are two separate pieces. I can't see how they are fastened together, though. The rail cover(<-?) is what needs adjusting. By lifting on the bed liner will this pop the rail cover loose?
Thanks! Jennifer Hughs
