Cheep Window

Hey all, I need a new back window for my '85 F-250, and was wondering if any of ya'll knew of a place, preferably here on the island that can do it for cheep. The truck has a rear slider window and the driver side piece is blown out. though a slider is not required, I dont need it. HELP ME OUT BROTHAS!!!!!

It's really easy to replace, you just pop out the window and rubber gasket in one piece with a pair of screwdrivers. If you ask in the 80-86 forum, they can give you more detailed directions.

Don't know of a place here on Whidbey, they'd just order out and cost more than the one I ordered from JC Whitney to replace the rear slider on the '79.

Forgot to add- Any Ford F-series rear window will work, from ~67 to 96.

The windows from 67-72 are much smaller.

Here's your rear slider window at JC Whitney, choice of tints or clear. The price has doubled since I bought mine (ten years ago.)

Don't know what you consider cheep, but you might want to consider LMCtruck.com as they have tons of parts for Ford Trucks.

Really?
I'm pretty sure the window in my 72 came from a 78. I remember replacing a trashed slider with a solid unit.

Thanks for the info guys, a slider is not required, I dont need it. What I think that I may do is go to the junk yard and pull one, how hard are they to pull?? I've heard that a screwdriver and some piano wire are good to use, but I've never done that...LOL

Just pry a little around the edges, push and pop. BUT the old rubber will start to crack so be careful unless you have a newer gasket.

Be aware that hitting the raw edge of glass with metal will crack it, especially old glass.

Using piano wire is for cutting the un-saveable seals/gaskets, like around windshields. A heat knife works for that type Ok too.

I see- they shrunk the green truck

Must have been thinking about my 84.
I think I have replaced the back glass in just about every truck I have had. I must be the only person in the US who dislikes sliders.

It was from sitting out in the hot sun for so long of course.

Then you prolly have a few rear windows stashed in the loft...I'll keep an ear out for buyers cuz there are a lot of old Ford trucks on the island here, and few local places (like none, they have to order out) to get those kind of things.

(For Islanders, the only place I know of is Christian's by the main base in Oak Harbor and their supply is low. "Chief's" garage on Sleeper Road sometimes has parts trucks. Lemme' know if anybody else opens a salvage yard on that end of Whidbey, 85_Ford_6.9L_4x4 .)
