I once read in one of your descriptions about the diablo chip's advantages over the stock computer that it overrides the stock computer's RPM limiting and speed limiting feature. I think you said that the RPM was set to shift at 4500 or 5000 rpm, something like that and the MPH was set to shut down at 90mph. I had some recall stuff changed on my 97 X when I took it to Ford for some work done. They changed the manual tranny computer and since then it doesn't shift until 6000+ rpm and I know it goes faster than 100 mph. Does this sound odd to you? Did Ford put better computers for the recall deal? Or did I just get the good end of something overseen? Other than shocks no other mods are done to the truck, it's all stock. Any answers to this is appreciated!
Something is wrong. It should not shift at such a high RPM. That's too high plus Ford does not remove the limiters. Some of the factory limiters are at 105 (even higher with the Lightning). Are you sure the computer hasn't been calibrated for an incorrect tire size or gear ratio? Check your speed with someone pacing you.
The guy who owned the truck before me was a family man, salesman. He had no interest in changing out or modifying anything, that's what's weird. When I brought the X in to Ford to have brake work done, they said there were a number of recalls they could take care of at the same time, one of them was the computer. I don't remember what it drove like before that, but now it revs high and goes fast. Would Ford have done it, heard of anything? Oh, also should mention that I have had a new motor put in since that cam chain tensioner recall put my motor in the dumps. Other than that I'm stock. Weird huh?
