Bad starter relay on the fender maybe.........ignition switch problems. Try removing the small wire on the relay..... put a test light on the wire to ground......turn the ignition switch as per normal start......release...... does the light stay on after the key is released. Other test.. turn key to on, jumper the 2 large terminals on the fender relay (use old screw driver or jumper cable) does engine start...does starter disengage immediately when jumper power removed. May need a friend it this is a standard trans..
