Question 1985 / 1995 distributor swap

hey gang...i have a 1995 F350, 460ci, 4x4, manual, that is needing a distributor (mainly the shaft and the gear)...i have a 1985 F350 460ci, 4x2, auto...would the 1985 distributor fit in the 1995?

also, my wife drives a 2002 jeep liberty sport with the 3.7L, it is in need of an ac compressor clutch...from what i have seen clutches are not sold seperately, i would have to buy a new/reman. compressor w/ the clutch...do ya'll know of anything about this, can i get a clutch seperately??? my pocket book would like to...

thanks.....I LOVE THIS WEBSITE!!!!

Honestly, dont know but the distributor needs to have TFI in order for it to work with your truck. Either on the distributor or off on the sidewall if your truck the 95. You can make the 85 work as long as it came from a 460 and you went through all the trouble to repair and and make it like the 95, but by then you just bought the replacement without the core charge.

Replace "wife" with "girlfriend" and I can say the exact same thing (well the mechanic says it's the coil that engages the clutch). Let me know if you find out anything because she doesn't want to spend the big bucks for a new compressor. The mechanic said to keep the fan on high so that the compressor didn't cycle. Once it engaged, it likely would stay engaged, but the cycling overheated it and caused it to stop working until it cooled down. That may buy you some time if it works...

Hey epn, the problem with my wife's car turned out to be the coil behind the ac compressor clutch...i was not able to buy the coil by itself...the only way you can get away from buying a new compressor is to go through a chrysler dealership...they are the only ones who sell clutches seperate from the compressor (the clutches come with the coil) the part cost me about $230 and the total work came to $336 (so you can have a price to compare)

feel free to ask me anymore questions...have a good one

btw, sorry i didn't post last night like i said, my "trusty" internet was down...
