The upgrade is pretty straight foward as long as you don't remove the carrier from the axle. Most manufacturers that offer aftermarket shafts are quality stuff.
Looking at those meats, and I am thinking you might be pushing the limits of the 44, and 9", even with chro-mo's. Would a 1 ton upgrade cost less in the long run?
If you are driving the truck hard enough to needs cho-mo shafts, I would think a larger shaft would be a good idea too.
