Construction workers??

I was reading an article on the web the other day about how Ford truck sales are down. I nearly fell out of my chair when the author said "pickups were bought mostly by construction workers". WTF, what century is he/she in, you know, the one in some Manhatten skyscraper?

construction workers = contractors. I.e. roofers, landscapers, investors, etc...

Basically a fancy way of saying the slowdown in housing is negativly affecting auto sales...

Yeah, believe it or not some folks still buy pickups to use the bed. Who would have ever thought that?

I agree... I can afford a new truck easily, but I can't see spending 30-40k on a new truck... Over the last 4 years excluding gas, oil, registration and insurance I have about 2k invested in my 86. That wouldn't cover the tax on a 40k new truck...

ford sales are also down because of the crappy deisel power plant they have been using in so many e series ambulance chasis that now nobody is buying ambulance chasis from them because of all the problems. My county is getting ready to more to an international chasis which means less turn radius and bigger trucks which is bad and good... but i want to keep our ford! come on ford, get with the program! My 2 lousy shares of stock aren't worth CRAP!

Hey, maybe they could boost sales in the construction industry if they called 'em El Fordos.

I drive several F150 at work all 2000 or newer as far as a truck they are OK . The seats suck and they have sucky interiors.

As for the construction part, unless they have own Co. and use new truck as write off. I don't see many new one on sites.Mainly because of lack of manual trans trucks and price according to lunch time B>S> sessions. My guys are lucky to drive things less then 10 yrs old.
