3hrs....ummm now Im concerned.
Ive talked to 2 different installers about LineX.
1 told me about 1 and half hours, the other about 2 hours for the install
When I had mine done it took them about 1hr and 10 minutes. that includes taking out the bed bolts and tailgate screws..
So what step do you suppose they skipped?
When I had my bed sprayed I expected about a two hour wait, but I didn't have anywhere to go and no way to get there. The job took about 1 hour ten minutes and yes they did remove the bed bolts and the tailgate screws. I've hauled sand, topsoil, gravel, bricks, cinderblocks, railroad ties etc. and my bed still looks as good as the day it was applied.
At my shop, it works like this: I have 3 employees. If you're the only truck in the shop, they can get the job done in 1.5 hours. If I have two trucks at one time, it will take them about 2.5 hours. If I have more than two, it will take about 3 hours. However, some of the newer shops will be slower. When we first opened up about 3.5 years ago, it took three people 4 hours to do one truck! So, considering experience, number of employees available, and number of trucks in the shop, I figure about 3 hours as an average.
TruckDaddy,
Yeah I was the only one at the shop that day, they took 1hr and 10 minutes to do my F150 6.5 bed.
I was at home depot today and had to put some stuff in the back and I noticed when I got up in the bed of the truck that on both sides of the bed, where it indents (kind of like a square)and the curved part of that indent. That it doesnt have the same rough texture as like the floor does. One side was just a black finish and the other had a slightly sandpaper feel to it.
Not really sure If i should take back my truck to the shop and tell them about it or just leave it be
Well, don't be unhappy with it. Take it back and talk to the dealer about it. If you decide to have some more texture applied, be sure the dealer applies a primer first. Be aware that when the dealer applies the primer (called SF515), he will have to wait 5 hours before he can apply LINE-X on top of the primer. I realize that may be inconvenient, but that's the correct way to do it.

Well I think im more concerned about it in the overrall picture than how it looks.
Like I said you cant really tell it until you get up in the bed and see it.
Im going to be putting on a tonnuea cover anyway, so out of sight out of mind. But since this is my first spray in liner, i guess im more concerned about long term effects and if theres going to be problems since the coating probably isnt as thick as it should be. Thus do I worry about it and have them fix it or not worry about it.?
and If I do have them fix it, will it blend it with the rest of the liner or do I stand the chance of it looking like a patch job?
Thanks
Thanks Nassty,
Gonna make sure I ask about the bed bolts and tailgate bolts.
Assuming I have a tonneau cover on, Can I ask how does the liner hold up to pitching in a rake or shovel and having it land tips down?
How easy are they to tear or gouge?
My wifes and my trucks have linex and i tell ya we work em. i have'nt been able to hurt the liner yet. Although i did mange to put a dent in the wheel wheel and tailgate panel of my wifes truck and pitch a ballpeen hammer knocked them right out you cant tell they where ever there.
