Question More power A/C blower?

Looking for a more powerful aftermarket blower for my Ranger A/C?

Your problem probably isn't the blower motor, rather an air leak in the air duct plumbing. Check the HVAC case for cracks, etc.. make sure all the ducts are connected and not restricted somehow, and make sure the blower housing is sealed up to the box.

It's also possible your evaporator may be "freezing up" - the condensation freezes, effectively turning the evaporator into a block of ice, restricting airflow. Make sure the drain is clear and the A/C is functioning correctly. It's possible the low side cycling switch is adjusted too far, keeping the compressor on too long.. or there may be a restriction in the system (plugged oriface tube, etc).

As far as a higher performance blower.. well I'm sure someone makes one somewhere, but I've personally never heard of one.

Good luck

I had a similar problem with my ranger. My evaporator was clogged with leaves and dirt. I had to remove the blower fan and the housing around the evaporator. I used condensor cleaner. it took about three times to get it cleaned out.

I doubt it's icing because the air is weak from minute one you turn the A/C.
Now there's a big possibility that blower might have a bunch of garbage debris, etc.
Last time I couldn't have enough clearance to remove the blower, I have to remove the coolant and windshield reservoir, and I cannot get to one of the reservoir bolt because the air filter box is in the way of the reservoir.
Can someone tell me how to get the air box out so I can remove the reservoirs ?

What year is your truck again cadriver? I replaced the blower in my 94 a year ago and I had barely enough room to squeeze it out, fan blade and all. You might look into merely replacing the fan blade. I'd think one from an aerostar van or explorer would have a slightly higher pitch due to it having such a large interior volume to chill/heat. A higher pitch (same as with boat propellers) means faster output.

The air filter box is mounted with rubber grommets and they can be a real pain in the rear to pull free but thats all there is to it....just pull up on it, that will free the bottom 2 then pull it towards the rad. fan to get the 2 on the sides loose.

You're right about that it's a pain in the A..!
I tried last time I pulled up but those rubber things are like glued, so I didn't want to force them worry it might brake!
But I think there must be something else holding the air box, maybe at the front? if you know what else needs to be remove to get the box out let me know, thanks!

It should be just the rubber grommets but they are hard to pull out. I pulled mine at just 5K miles and the truck was only a few months old. I bet with yours being 7 years old they must really be stuck.
