Ok, not going to go wild on mods, but guess I will play with the exhaust and intake a little.
Going to do a bit of a ram air.
Whats the opinion on exhaust. Will it be enough to just change out the 2.5" pipe out to 3"?
I mean just changing the portion from the y out.
Only reason I don't want to go bigger is the biggest mandrel bend dies I have at work is 3" so I can do it myself and it will be a nice job.
Other option is duals with crossover or x pipe.
I can buy some bigger bends and cut and weld, but would rather just bend up and entire system and be done with it.
Don't just hook it to the end of the Y, start before the two downpipes from the manifolds come together.
That way both of the downpipes will be dumping into a 3" pipe.
If you have the equipment and material to do 3" it will make a big improvement. I had a shop put on my 3" system and the bends were a bit retrictive, so after I put a set of headers on I went with a full 4". You can buy the whole back end from 94-97 PSD, aluminized steel not too expensive. I had to fab from headers to a Y with 3" then a straight lenght back to the 4" flow through muffler, all spounds awsome, and is a bit louder than the 3" system I had.
I did it on mine, also have a tech article on the home page about how I did it, but it sounds like you have better toys to play with on making it. I changed mine to run back from the passenger manifold to meet right where the 3" pipe starts. I also capped off the hole where the factory y met. Now the pipe from the passenger header runs straight into the pipe, and the other angles in. I'm pretty happy with how it works. I built mine from used medium duty truck pipes... Started with 3.25 pipe, then expanded up to 3.5, 4 " tip by using those pipes. The bends were there, I just had to arrange them to work for my setup.
Yea, we got a pretty good mandrel bender at work. Makes perfect bends. Figure I will straighten it out a bit too, no need for as much bend as the factory has.
I wish I had access to a mandrel bender, I also went to a 3" pipe when I put a turbo in. I had to use three 90* elbows sparringly to make mine up (all stainless). It has many tig wield joints.....
Yes its very nice. We bend a lot of stainless too. Spendy but sure is nice.
It looked pretty nice when I first put it in, but its filthy by now, as it should be . I try to raplace with stainless as often as I can, I don't feel like dealing with rusty pipes if I can help it.
