I have the chance to buy a 72 bronco that has been sitting in a fellows back yard for about 500 bucks--the bodys toast and I think the motor has to be rebuilt. Would it be worth it to look for a steel body out west or go the fibre-glass route? any web sites or good catalog houses that sell parts for this vehicle? It will have the frame off body retoration, and I want to uodate it with electronic ign. dics, p/s, p/b, and generally make it a fun veh. to drive at the shore.
any ideas ou there for parts?
also looking to put a full rool cage into this vehicle, anyone make a kit?
After restoring all sorts of Fords (Retracts, Broncos, Galaxies, Mustangs, Rancheros) over thirty years I have developed only one rule when selecting lumps of coal to turn into diamonds. SHEETMETAL MUST BE FREE OF MAJOR RUST DAMAGE. You would be big $$ ahead to find a worn but rust free, rebuildable hulk in the southwest and ship or tow it home. Rust damage is ALWAYS much worst than it appears. If you can't fight the fever just be patient. Sooner or later your neighbor will give it to free just to get it out of his yard. Must admit, the image (in the mind) of a redone old Bronco is hard to deal with.

Getting bit by the bronco bug? Congratulations ya'll are about to embark on a financial spend-a-thon that when completed (if ever) will be the envy of all you know. Try James Duff (360)683-2160. K bar S in vegas (good folk) (800)266-1941 Toms Bronco541-779-1339 and Wild Horses 4x4. All these guys are on the net and have everything you could need. Once you get into it there are things that swap ect. that just takes trial & error. Hope this helps, an remember they ain't built a "real" Bronco since 1977.
Boy you have that right that haven't built a nice bronco in years. I have a 72 bronco that was built out of three. It used to have a 302 in it but that was changed back to a 6 I hate it, not enought power....lol. How much are the old broncos worth anyway. Rick
