I know this is a ford website but my dad is having trouble figuring out whats wrong with his 1500 dodge. when you turn or go over pumps there is a herrific squuek coming from both sides on the front end somewhere around the tires. You go push down on the front end and it makes the noise or when you go over bumps its getting really bad... We replaced the shocks but its still doing it. Anyone have any ideas on what it could be. We also lubed the front end up real good. thanks
You'll be able to find that squeak if you bounce the front end up and down and feel for it.
Sounds like ball joints to me as well. Or maybe A-arm pivots.
Was the front shocks changed recently? I have a friend who had the same problem right after he changed his shocks. Turned out there is a certain way the front shocks have to be reinstalled due to the way the mounts are made and if they arent installed properly than it will squeek like that.
we put new shocks on the front end to see if that was the problem but it wasent. the squeek is still there. We will try the silicon on all the rubber bushings and if that dont help we prolly will tear into it for the ball joints
I got a persistent squeek after putting running boards on an '06 Explorer. Took the dealer 4 trips to figure it out after slathering grease in the front sway bar bushings repeatedly. The mounting arms were rubbing on the frame. Glad the dealer didn't charge me, even though it was under warranty, since I had a custom shop install them.
